Former Orangefield ISD Trustee, Donovan Weldon, special-ordered a pipe spreader for his excavator, from the OHS Welding Shop. Mr. Weldon agreed, you can’t sell something that you haven’t tried out. So, OHS students, Ethan Welch and Brayden McGee, not only built the spreader but had the opportunity to try it out in Mr. Weldon’s yard, before handing it over. Thank you, Mr. Weldon, for the opportunity.

Congratulations to Katie Guyote, who represented OHS at the HOSA-Future Health Professionals State Conference in Galveston last week. She walked away with first place in her event, Personal Care, which includes patient care skills such as handwashing, vital signs, bed making, and transferring patients. This is a huge achievement, as this is the first year for the student-led HOSA organization in Orangefield. Thank you Katie for paving the way for future health professionals in OISD.

On Thursday, April 4th, the representatives for Youth Leadership SETX attended their "Graduation Day" at LSCO. Ethan Welch, Gracie Bickham, and Abby Slaughter were selected to represent OHS, and hosted several small fundraisers throughout the year to collect monetary donations. Together with Bridge City, the students were able to donate roughly $1700 to Family Services of SETX. Y-LSET is a student-led initiative that provides leadership development in diverse populations by promoting understanding and collaboration between different schools and experiences, combined with a service project.
