Over 90 Senior Students from Orangefield High School attended the 3rd Annual Mock Interviewing Event at Lamar State College Orange. The Interviewing Event consisted of students participating in an interview with a local business, refinery, or industry partner.
A very special Thank You goes out to our hard-working partners for all the feedback they gave our students.
OHS students also received a hands-on lesson referring to Communication by Dr. Belinda George, Founder & CEO of “Tucked in Tuesdays” and Junior Achievement of the Golden Triangle.
Lastly, our students took a tour of the Lamar State College Orange Campus. The tour consisted of visiting several departments that included the Nursing Department, Pharmacy Lab, Library, Admissions, and Financial Aid Services. Thank you, LSCO, for your assistance and the use of your beautiful facilities. This could not have happened without you.
According to our students, the overall consensus was that it was a beneficial experience and they were appreciative to be able to participate in this special event.

To finish out our guest speaker series on the five healthcare career pathways, Principles of Health Science students welcomed speakers from Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital over the last several weeks. Kelli Huebel, NICU Program Coordinator, Clifton Simoneaux, Radiology Manager, and Morgan Cornelius, Certified Child Life Specialist, shared their education and career backgrounds as well as daily tasks and job duties. Students were able to learn about some specialty fields that they had never heard of, and had an opportunity to get an inside look into how all of these career pathways play a vital role in positive patient outcomes. We would like to thank them for volunteering their time to enlighten and lead our future generation of healthcare professionals.

Kaydance Whitfield and Breea Hubbard, Class of 2022, came and spoke to Mrs. Kimberly Spears' Ready, Set, Teach class. They covered the importance of RST, majoring in education in college, preparation for and different types of state exams, student teaching, substitute teacher training, and answered questions. They did such a wonderful job! Them being here was incredibly beneficial, especially to the seniors. We LOVE having former students return and share their stories. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!
